My best artwork this semester is the blue mug I made. I really like it, it is soooo cool! I think it is one of the best artworks I have ever made. I would like to redo my non-representational artwork. I don't really like that unit anyways, nobody understands what I make and it makes me feel like I suck at art. It is kind of cool that only the artist knows what it means but it can also be annoying. I didn't like my artwork for non-representational because it was boring to make, I thought it would be more fun. I learned to keep trying, even when it isn't going well. I also learned that if you really don't like what you are doing, change it and it will end up being something you like. I wish we could've done more artworks. I really like doing art projects and I wish I would've done more.

My artwork is 2 mugs based on Frankie Muniz's outfits on Dancing with the Stars. He is my favorite actor. One of them is light blue with 2 black stripes, aka suspenders. The other is black with yellow "suspenders" and a bowtie. I added color bursts to the handle of the black and yellow mug. I also made a purple mug that says "CAT MOM" on it and it has color bursts on the handle. I made the mugs out of clay at home. Once they were fired, I glazed them to look like his outfits. With the blue one, I bedazzled it at home. It looks AWESOME! I love it!!! I'm expressing that Frankie Muniz is my favorite actor and I am so glad that I can express that through art:) My goals were to make mugs that I will be able to use and to make them important to me. I LOVE the blue mug I made! My favorite is the blue one, my second favorite is the yellow and black one, and my least favorite is the cat mom mug. But I like them all. I hope I can improve on smoothing the clay out and taking the time to put on more coats because you can see through the glaze on the cat mom mug. I think I did good for my first mugs.
The part of my identity that I am sharing is my favorite actor, Frankie Muniz. I am making mugs based on his outfits on Dancing with the Stars. My plan has stayed the same through the whole artwork. I was wondering if I should do a plate or bowl if the mugs didn't work out, but they turned out nicely. It took me a while to make the mugs and I couldn't get it right my first(at least 5) tries. Every time I would start a new mug I messed up and had to restart at least twice. But I think they are good for my first time making mugs. I am surprised that the colors matched the outfits so well. I am really proud of how my first mug turned out because I bedazzled it and it looks pretty awesome:) I might make a small plate to go with the bedazzled mug because the bedazzling process is really fun. I was also thinking of making a spoon specifically for dipping Oreos in milk.
For my artwork I decided to make Frankie Muniz inspired mugs. He is my FAVORITE actor and I love mugs! But I only have 2. I hope these turn out nicely so I have 2 more to add to my collection:) 2 Studio Habits of Mind: Observe and Envision. I am using clay. I am observing Frankie Muniz's outfits in the pictures and I am envisioning the next step in my artwork. I am super excited to finish them!
My artwork is a 3-D meme. The figures are dressed in green sweaters, blue jeans, and white socks. The skin is beige. There are also two small scales, one pointing to a spot that would be zero and one pointing a little more than zero. The top figure is weighing his head, and the bottom one is looking at the scale. I created my artwork using wire, shaping it into a body, wrapping it in tinfoil, covering it in newspaper, then covering it in paper towels. Then I painted it and made some clothes for it. Then I made the scales and the box. I didn't glue them down because I like to hold them. I made them based on a Malcolm in the Middle scene that I think is really cute and funny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RmgL3R3jtg My goals for my artwork were to make a cool thing to put on my cube shelf in my room and to make something based on Malcolm in the Middle. I really like my artwork. I like that it is something from my favorite show. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would. I made a dinosaur food/water/milk dish for my cats. Originally, I planned to make one side with a dino head and one side with a crown, but it didn't work because the pieces were too chunky and kept falling. So I decided to make both bowls into a dinosaur. I painted it blue(Dutch Blue) because green was too boring and I even painted little orange(Orange-A-Peel) fish on the bottom. I let the cats drink out of it. They are too dumb to realize that there are two sides. They were both drinking out of the same side😹. Then I showed them that there were two sides, Dot took a couple licks out of it, and went back to the big bowl. It is really lumpy but that's okay. I like it. It was fun and I really enjoyed making it. 2 Studio Habits of Mind I used were Stretch & Explore and Engage and persist.
My 2 Studio Habits of Mind are Engage & Persist and Develop Craft. Engage & Persist: I made a small pair of pants but they were not long enough. So I had to make another pair. I had to sew 2 sweaters, 2 pairs of pants, and 4 socks since I am making 2 of the same figure, just in different positions. I used a sock to make the sweater and I barely had enough fabric. Develop Craft: I used a method I have not tried before to make the figures. It's really fun, but it was also messy the way I did it. I'm basing it off a funny scene from Malcolm in the Middle. I'm creating a 3-D meme sort of thing.
My artwork is a cube with yellow and green triangular prisms glued on it. The bottom is open. 4 sides will have yellow triangles and the top will have green triangles stacked on top of each other. I made 2 molds out of cardboard for the triangles, then I made a bunch of triangles out of plaster gauze which took a really long time. Then I painted them and made a box out of cardboard and painted that. All I need to do is glue the triangles on. The inspiration for my artwork was Psych and how there is a pineapple mentioned in almost every episode. So far I do not like my artwork. I think that will change once I finish it.
My artwork is like one of those small rooms designs. I liked the idea of the closets under the bed so I made that one. I glued cartoon pineapple images onto the closet doors and glued green pony beads on as handles. I still need to make a yellow blanket and a little pineapple pillow as accessories. I printed out a window with a picture of Santa Barbara and glued that on so it looks like there is a window. It is Psych themed, that's why I chose Santa Barbara. I used a laptop template and put a picture of psych on it and made it look like the person was watching Psych on their laptop. I put a couple of pictures of Shawn and Gus on a newspaper template and glued that to the desk. I glued little posters on the wall that have sayings from the show on them. I made the bed out of a phone case, cardboard, and paper. I also made a little ladder out of popsicle sticks. I covered the walls in white paper. I made the desk out of a piece of the top or bottom(IDK which part) of the phone box. I also covered the floor in white paper. I like my artwork a lot. I made the room Psych themed- originally it was Brawl Stars themed, but I couldn't stop thinking about Psych so I had to change my idea because it just wasn't fun anymore. My only goal was to have fun with the room I was making. I am glad I changed my idea. Stretch & Explore and Engage and Persist are my 2 Studio Habits of Mind. Stretch and Explore: I learned from my mistakes because I was making the triangles and it was taking me waaaay too long so I decided to make it 2x2 instead of 3x3. If I do a 2x2 square, I will only need to make about 21 triangles, but before I would've had to make about 50 triangles. I have already made 14 triangles(I think). Are you sick of the word "triangles" yet? Engage and Persist: I wanted to give up and restart with a new idea but I decided to keep going on with this artwork. I think if I finish it I'll like it.
